My whole life, my father has crafted Chilean wines and imported them to The U.S. (where I’ve lived since I was 5), and my grandfather has grown and harvested grapes for the wine industry on his farm in Chile. One might say the business is in my blood. As such, when it came time for me to choose a career after graduating college, I went straight into TV & Film. As one does.
Some years (and an Emmy) later though (NBD), I woke up one morning at 5am with a singular thought: why are tequila, vodka and gin ubiquitous around the world, while pisco, a comparable spirit (from Chile), remains relatively unknown?
The answer: because no one has ever done it right. And so within a month, I left my long-time career in entertainment to start a wild journey into the world of pisco.
I first flew to Chile and enlisted the help of my cousin Rafa. Together, we then found the top master distillers in the country, and with my wife Meredith helping as a taster and partner, over the past 18 months we have created the best-tasting, most versatile pisco in the world. Rafa has since moved from Chile to our house in Topanga, and here we all are, bringing Típico to the world.
